About Cathy

Cathy has been serving the New England area as a medical provider for more than forty years. She began her career in medicine by earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Boston University, and then went on to complete a Master’s Degree at BU as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist and another Master’s Degree in Primary Healthcare Nursing from Simmons University to earn her nurse practitioner (N.P.) credentials. Most recently she became a Certified Medical Examiner for DOT CDL. Cathy’s career in medicine has included working as the head nurse of a surgical ICU, as the manager of an emergency department, and as a nurse practitioner in a cardiology practice for over twenty-five years.

In January of 2021, the state of Massachusetts signed into law a bill that allows nurse practitioners to run independent practices, and this prompted Cathy to decide to open her own practice where she could dedicate herself to providing care to her patients at the level and quality that she believes each of them deserves.

Cathy lives in Tiverton, RI with her husband of thirty-eight years, John Polk, who is a retired cardiovascular surgeon and currently a Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at Boston University Medical School. Together they share one adult son, and she is the proud grandmother of two grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, pastel painting, spending the summers boating, and getting to spend time with her family.
